On May 11, 2025, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts will begin implementing multifactor authentication (MFA) to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER. MFA provides an added layer of security to accounts by helping protect against cyberattacks that steal passwords, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access. Once implemented, all CM/ECF and PACER users will be able to enroll in MFA. CM/ECF users must enroll in MFA by December 31, 2025, while enrollment will be optional for users with PACER-only access. For more information about the MFA implementation for CM/ECF and PACER, visit: https://pacer.uscourts.gov/announcements/2025/05/02/multifactor-authentication-coming-soon.
Please note that users who are using third-party software for filing must ensure MFA is supported by that software before enrolling to avoid any disruption in their business processes.
