William J. Fisher appointed U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Minnesota

The Honorable William Jay Riley, Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit, announced the court has appointed Hennepin County District Judge William J. Fisher of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Minnesota.  Judge Fisher will replace Chief Judge Gregory F. Kishel, who is retiring. 

Judge Fisher is a 1982 graduate of Tufts University and a 1985 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School. Before his appointment to the Hennepin County bench in 2014, he was a shareholder at Gray, Plant, Mooty, Mooty and Bennet, P.A., practicing in the areas of bankruptcy, debtor-creditor relations, and commercial law. He is an adjunct instructor at William Mitchell College of Law and a community faculty member at Metropolitan State University.  In 2015, Judge Fisher received the Judge Nancy C. Dreher Award, recognizing Judge Fisher’s many contributions to pro bono service in the bankruptcy practice.
