On Friday, January 24, 2014, hackers launched a distributed denial of service (DDos) attack against the federal judiciary's publicly accessible websites, including uscourts.gov and all court-specific web sites. For several hours (from approximately 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm), these sites were inaccessible, thus precluding end-users from filing case documents electronically, accessing case files through PACER, and obtaining general court information from court web sites.
During the service disruption, staff for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota worked with attorneys with emergency filings to ensure the timely receipt of those filings. Should this type of service disruption occur again, attorneys with emergency filings should contact any of the clerk's offices by phone for assistance.
