Update to Chapter 13 Continuance Process

October 2, 2025

This notice provides an important update to the guidance previously issued by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota on March 31, 2025, and June 27, 2025, regarding requests for continuances in Chapter 13 matters.

Effective Friday, October 3, 2025, parties seeking to continue matters on the Chapter 13 Calendar must use one or both of the following new CM/ECF events:

  • Agreed Continuance of Chapter 13 Confirmation Hearing: This event is designed for use when all relevant parties have agreed to continue a Confirmation Hearing to the next available calendar date that meets applicable noticing requirements.
  • Agreed Continuance of Chapter 13 Motion to Dismiss: This event is designed for use when all relevant parties have agreed to continue a Motion to Dismiss to the next available calendar date that meets applicable noticing requirements.

Please carefully review the updated instructions for submitting agreed continuances of confirmation hearings and motions to dismiss: Agreed Continuance in a Chapter 13 Case

With the implementation of this new event, the following CM/ECF events will be retired and removed from the event menu:

  • Request for One-Month Continuance in a Chapter 13 Case
  • Request for Two-Month Continuance in a Chapter 13 Case
