How do I file for bankruptcy and where can I obtain the forms to file a bankruptcy case?

Answer:

A bankruptcy case is commenced by the filing of a petition in the appropriate divisional office (i.e., Duluth, Fergus Falls, Minneapolis or St. Paul), based on the county of the debtor’s mailing address.  See Local Rule 1002-1.  Debtors must also file schedules of assets and liabilities and a complete list of creditors, including creditors’ mailing addresses. See Filing Guidance for a complete list of filing requirements for each chapter.

To obtain forms online, see Official Bankruptcy Forms.  Forms may also be purchased from any local office supply.
