Do I need an attorney to file bankruptcy?

Answer:

While an individual person or spouses may file a bankruptcy petition without an attorney, it is difficult to do so successfully.  It is strongly recommended that individuals consult with an experienced bankruptcy attorney prior to filing a case.

Corporations and partnerships may not file a bankruptcy petition without an attorney.
